EDITORIAL / METHOD 0.1
How we choose camps
Ranking methodology v0.1 · Evidence, fit and the limits of a shortlist.
01
Start with the question
Each edition defines a place, participant model, experience and review date before considering brands. A family adventure camp must document both a camp format and adult–child participation in outdoor activities. A school expedition, a sightseeing tour and a parent accompanying a child to drop-off are different formats.
02
Define the candidate universe
The first China family-outdoor edition is a bounded review of named programs found through primary-source research and our existing program graph. It is not a census of Chinese camps. Every considered candidate has a dated internal decision, including exclusions. The public page explains material exclusions; confidential reviewer notes stay private.
03
Pass the eligibility gate
A candidate needs an identifiable operator, a source documenting the current edition or seasonal operation, enough detail to establish category fit, and traceable sources. A live website alone does not establish current delivery. Development concepts, historical editions without current evidence, unknown operators and unsupported category matches are ineligible. A scheduled season does not prove completed delivery or future availability.
04
Use an editorial rubric
Exceptional fit: the defining needs are directly addressed with unusually clear evidence. Strong fit: the main needs are documented with manageable limits. Relevant fit: a specific use case is supported but important limits remain. Borderline: plausible but evidence or scope is incomplete; no selection. Ineligible: fails a gate. These are editorial judgments, not measurements of safety or learning outcomes. We do not invent numerical weights or a total score.
05
Explain the order
This pilot uses a shortlist by use case. Numbering identifies entries; it does not mean one program is universally better. The versioned dossier fixes review order before publication. Any later comparative order requires a published rationale and a new material-change entry. We may publish one qualified option, or none, instead of filling a Top 10.
06
Keep commercial interests out
Ownership, sponsorship, paid placement and strategic brand targets are excluded from eligibility and ordering inputs. They also do not alter Advisor matching. We do not sell positions in organic recommendations. Sponsorship, if introduced, must be separately labeled and cannot buy inclusion. Founder-related examples carry a visible disclosure even when excluded.
07
Disclose the founder relationship
SUMMERCAMP.TOP has a founder relationship with Little Knights, Huaen Brothers and the rally projects represented here. That connection supplies context and first-party material, not independent corroboration. This edition was prepared with AI assistance using public sources; it has not received an independent external editorial review. Founder-related candidates must pass the same gate.
08
Read sources at claim level
Operator material can establish what is advertised. Government records can establish the bounded event or relationship they describe. Neither automatically proves present safety, legal compliance, staff competence or participant outcomes. Unknown facts remain unknown. We distinguish evidence of a format from evidence that the experience is effective.
09
Review, correct and retain history
Review seasonal pages before the next intake and at least every 90 days; recheck immediately after a material correction or cancellation. Each page exposes sources, editor, review date, edition and update history. Material changes preserve the prior edition in the repository. Evergreen URLs keep their identity; dates are not silently advanced. Corrections follow the contact route on the About page.
